Our Process

Every memoir is a unique project and I will customize my approach to meet your needs. That said, it helps to have a sense of the process involved in creating a written memoir. The full process will take 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project. Here are the highlights:

  • We will start with a consultation to discuss the scope of your project and customize a package to meet your needs and budget.
  • I will then conduct interviews and gather photos, letters, and documents related to your project.
  • Once I have all the raw material, I will craft a narrative that celebrates your story and collaborate with a trusted editor to polish it.
  • I'll send you the draft manuscript for your review, to make sure I have all the details correct.
  • When I've received your feedback on the draft, I will make revisions and begin the layout process.
  • At this stage I will also review printing options with you to make sure the package looks the way you want it to, including what paper stock will work best, what binding method we will use, and so on.
  • When the layout is complete, I'll get your feedback on the look of your book and make adjustments before sending it to a professional proof-reader for a final quality check.
  • I work with quality printing firms to produce final books. Whether you want one copy or one thousand copies I have printing partners that can make it happen.
